Cover-up tattoos present quite a few different challenges for any artist. Finding the perfect design that the client likes, but will also be able to cover whatever it is they want covered. Size and placement can make or break any good cover-up. I’ll redo the stencil as many times as it takes to get right, a clean and smooth execution over previously tattooed skin is essential, tattooing over tattoos is painful, so a steady hand and limiting skin irritation is paramount. The client comes to me to fix a bad decision they trust me to give them a piece they’re proud to wear.
This tattoo was used to cover up a bad one she had previously gotten. I used the bulk of the tree branch to eliminate any trace of the old design.
For this one it was difficult to get the old tattoo to not show through, but with the right color and design size, you could never tell there was a tattoo there before the Ohio State logo.
